Zoomer

Zoomer is a co-creative system designed for quick exploration of visual textures. To start, the user is asked to select an image as a starting point to explore. Users will select a portion of an image where they observe interesting patterns or textures. The user is provided with a set of parameters to advise the creative agent to create more details or less details interpretations of the selected portion of the image. After the creative agent interprets the user’s selection, it returns it to the user to select a portion of the image again. This feedback process continues until the user discovers an image which they are satisfied with.

The process of creating sketches is designed to be interactive and often reveals more information than initially intended. Through “conversing” with the agent, the individual continually redefines problems, leading to new discoveries and further reflection. In addition to that, unanticipated outcomes from designers’ actions can introduce new meanings, prompting further reframing of the situation.
